REMOTE LOCATION RECORDING

 

Services include live archival concert recordings of solo instrumentalists, chamber ensembles, orchestras, percussion ensembles, electronics, and complex iterations of all of these including open-air summer festival performances. 

 

Recordings may be captured with simple stereo arrays or approached with complex multi-channel setups for orchestral projects and for commercial releases. A full range of studio microphones, preamps, A/D converters and digital recorders are available. Dress rehearsal recording captures of pre-concert material included upon request.

 

 

 

SESSION RECORDING AND PRODUCING

 

Commercial release recordings involve close collaboration with the artists to fully achieve their vision.  State-of-the-art high-end recording gear and monitoring form the basis for this process, but pre-production planning and study are the true keys to success.  Every attempt is made to attend all performances and rehearsals prior to sessions.

 

Assistance with booking venues and ensuring that every aspect of the recording process serves the end product is carefully considered.  When possible, composer supervision during the recording sessions is welcomed.

 

 

 

DIGITAL EDITING

 

A thorough editing process gives a great performance it’s afterlife and legacy.  Proper care with take selection is essential for creating a coherent musical narrative out of many disparate elements. Sonic Studio’s soundBlade HD platform is used for all music editing.  Sonic’s SSE engine and 64-bit precision provide an industry standard for performing complex crossfades and editing workflows. Apple’s Final Cut X is the tool of choice for all multi-cam editing and DaVinci Resolve is employed for all color correction and grading.

 

 

MIXING

 

Achieving the optimal balance of musical and tonal elements for your project with a natural perspective and palpable sense of sound stage and stereo imaging.

CD Premastering, DDP 2.0 Master creation, DVD authoring, MP3 and format conversions for internet delivery. 

 

 

RESTORATION

 

Clean up artifacts from external noises impacting a performance: traffic noise, coughs, and accidental distractions during live performances. Advanced noise reduction and spectral repair available, as well as hum and click removal on an “as need” basis.

VIDEO PRODUCTION

 

Create the cinematic marriage of audio and video through synced multi-angle positions and cameras incorporating 13 stops of dynamic range and a variety of lens focal lengths.  Create music video projects for web presentation and YouTube and Vimeo content.

Choose between capturing 3-5 camera archival video footage of an entire concert or plan a complete storyboarded music video concept produced on location in multiple stages.
